I had been wanting to watch this movie ever since I watched the trailer. But then, after the movie was released and then uploaded in my favorite website, I downloaded it, but stored in my cellphone for so long. Well, what can I do, there are so many Jmovies and drama these days, and the subbers are really kind to put subtitle on them. And, finally, yesterday, I watched Kasane.
And, how was it?
It was sick. And it made me sick, too. 😓😓😓
After watching Kasane, I can look at Tao Tsuchiya as a different actress now, and also Kyoko Yoshine. They are still young but their talents cannot be neglected.🙆🙆🙆
Reading the Synopsis, I can picture it in my mind that both actress should pour out their best to dive in their character. Have you watched the movie? if you haven't, and you got doubt whether to watch or not, here, I can give a little spoiler 😁
Before I give spoiler about the movie, I want to know if you did watch Friday The 13th, a TV series broadcast decades ago. If you did, maybe you'll get a picture of what it's all about. But if you didn't, maybe you can imagine a cursed thing to get something worth your life.
Nina Tanzawa, the beauty but lack of talents |
Kasane Fuchi, the beautiful bakemono whose talent is awesome |
From here, I wonder if Habuta San already knew about the lipstick that can understand the owner's desire. When Kasane puts on the lipstick on her lips, and kisses Nina, she soon incarnates into Nina's body. It was shocking for both Nina and Habuta san. But, the rogue in the form of lipstick could help Nina's career in the future. Remember I asked you about the TV series earlier? The rogue seems to hold the power of carrying humans desire. In this case, the desire of both Kasane and Nina. Nina dreams to have good acting to perform on the stage, Kasane dreams to show under the spotlight. Both can take advantage to each other. Isn't it a good compliance?
The audition for a play is coming soon, and Nina wants to join the audition. With Kasane’s soul on her body, she could get the role she dreams of. Kasane’s true nature is timid, easily gets nervous around people, but she could totally transform into somebody else on stage. Her strength is poured down on stage. That thing attracts the stage producer, Reita Ugo.
And what happen next? Do they enjoy their transformation and take benefits to each other? In some way, yes. Kasane seems to enjoy being under the spotlight, showing off her strength and comfortable with people’s attention to her. Nina takes the benefits of being popular, her name is skyrocketing, being the center of people’ talk. However, she realizes that what the people talk about is not her. It is all thanks to Kasane.
Watching this almost two-hour movie, I must be very careful in identifying which one is the true Kasane and Nina, as well as the time of their transformation. Their transformation only lasts 12 hours. So, they have to renew their transformation by kissing each other once every twelve hour. The story itself is so intense by showing each character’s sides. In one time, Kasane seems to be inferior towards Nina, the one owning the good looking face, in another time, Kasane appears to be superior towards Nina that Nina should be the one who feels grateful for lending her her talent.
I’m amazed with how quick they switch their mood. Just pay attention to their eyes. Kasane’s desperation is depicted in her eyes, having a terrible scar on her face is no way to be accepted in society without being stared at. She is accustomed to walk hiding her face, if not putting on her mask. But as soon as their soul is switched, her hunger of fame and the center of attention are reflected on her eyes. Kasane, with her true face, never walks down the street looking all mighty. But with Nina in her soul, she could stare people looking at her scary face casually, as if there is nothing wrong on her face. Well, you know, people are often judged from their looks.
Well, last but not least, this is an extraordinary movie even though the main characters are still young. I watched a lot of Tao Tsuchiya’s movies and dorama. Frankly, I get bored of her acting as someone longing for someone she loves, or someone timid. She needs more challenge in her acting career. I was surprised watching her in her movie, 8 Year of Engagement. She nailed her role there. But then, I hated her stupid character in My Brother Loves Me Too Much. Moreover, the story itself is cringy. Well, all I can say is I wish to see her in more challenging movies in the future.
For Kyoko Yoshine, at first I knew her in live action The Anthem of The Heart. Actually, I have watched some of her drama or movies, unfortunately, she didn’t steal my attention. All I remember was she played as a student getting pain in her stomach every time she talks to others. But still, didn’t really get my attention. But as Kasane, I can see her differently now. She is sure to be a great actress as long as she can choose good roles for her. I wish to see her movie entitled Bento Harassment.
Well, hope what I wrote in this review won’t spoil anything for those who haven’t watched the movie. I guarantee that you would enjoy the movie.
