(QR) Korean drama - The Director Who buys Me Dinner

The Plot

Hundreds of years ago, a child was named after god and was cursed. After 4 reincarnations he finds his love in the form of an employee of his company, a man! If they don't date, they die!

"We have to date. If we don't, we die."

Dong Baek is one of the newest employees at Min Entertainment. His director, Yu Dam, is absolutely perfect in every way. Yet, Dong Baek thinks his director has lost his mind... What do you mean the director has lived three lives and because of that he wants to date? What's going on?

I’ve never thought I would enjoy watching this short series since I got bored and annoyed with the previous K-BL, My Assistant. So sorry for those who love that series, but I myself found it so many plot holes and the acting was cringe.

I fell in love with the actor who performed Seol Dongbek. I thought he’s not a new actor since his facial expression is amazing, but then I knew that it was his debut. Wow, amazing.

The story was a bit different rom the original manhwa that has 48 chapters. The manhwa didn’t really touch the entertainment industry which Director Min managed. The story was more of how the Director convinced Dongbaek that they were a couple 300 years ago. The changing character of the Director from being aggressive to being patient was kind of predictable. See until Dongbaek missed the attention from the director and he would turn into an aggressive Dongbaek :D

In the drama, the Director was patiently waiting for Dongbaek by inviting him to dinner. They finally felt comfortable to each other. Dongbaek eventually gave the same attention to the Director. The skinship in the drama was not as much as the manhwa. I would be dying from embarrassment if they put all the intimacy in the manhwa to the drama hahaha… However, their chemistry was not really a boom. I just felt that when Dongbaek finally gave his heart to the Director, he was the only one who has the chemistry with his role. It seems to me that the Director, the actor I mean,  didn’t really feel comfortable doing the intimacy.

The ending was quite unsatisfactory since there’s no information about Dennis. The manhwa discussed a little about it, saying that Dongbaek relived after the stab, Dennis said that the curse was lifted. If both the Director and Dongbaek had another life, they would not carry the curse anymore. That means they could live happily, in another life. Yattaaaa….

Many people complained about the ending in the drama, since it was only Dongbaek having the memory of what had happened while the Director seemed didn't have the memory. It was so sweet to see how finally Dongbaek was the one who invited the Director to dinner. Season 2? What do you expect? The same story with reversed role? Nope…. I just hope that the duration was a bit longer to explain about their past. The belief about not giving a name to God's child was new for me. How can it be a source of curse by giving a name? Was Dennis into Dongbaek in the present related to the past? It was him who murdered Dongbaek in the past by the order of the elders. And in the present time, he was also the one who separated Dongbaek and the Director. Then, how could he lift the curse? I still don’t get it.

Well, I enjoyed the drama though. The amount of fluffy moments was just quite right. No complaints about it.
