Random Watching School Drama from Time to Time (part 2)
As I already wrote in my previous post, I’d like to continue
to list down school drama I have watched. Some deserve to be re-watched, some
others I got so bored that I didn’t finish watching. Lol. Well, it is just a
matter of preference.
Sore dewa, hajimemashoo…
1. Q10 (2010)
I remember watching this after I got to know Satoh Takeru as
Himura Kenshin. I know it’s too late, but I’d repay what I missed. Lol. The
story revolves around a student, Heita Fukai, an ordinary weak student
suffering from heart disease met a transferred student. Apparently, the student
was a robot named Q10. The story is both entertaining and touching.
Unfortunately, I didn’t really like the ending. It’s a satisfactory ending, but
still I guess there would another way of ending.
Classroom scenes? There are some, especially when Q10 showed
off what she could do in the class and the chaos she created since she was just
’born’ from the scientist. Lol.
2. Koinaka (2015)
A story about childhood friends who later got a crush to
each other is very common. Even until today, the topic is still a selling
point. This is something called Friend Zone. In addition, the third wheel is
coming between them. A love triangle, what do you expect? The childhood friend
would always get the male/ female lead after he/she got through ups and downs.
Ups, spoiler. Lol.
Well, frankly, I expected to get more than just romance both
in school and in after school. But, that’s all that I got. A bit boring. Thanks
for Fukushi Sota and Shuhei Nomura who acted as rivals to get the girl. These
ikemens made me stand until the end. Lol.
3. Kurosaki kun Iinari ni Nante Naranai (2015)
A friend of mine suggested this manga to me, and then I got
hooked with the black devil hahaha… Then I found out that the manga got a live
action. Meanwhile, the manga has not finished yet (I don’t know whether it is
already finished since I don’t follow the manga anymore).
A love triangle is again the selling point. This one is also
about a girl (Yu Akabane) who wants to change herself from the object of bullying
into someone who stands for bullying. What a dream. However, her pursuit was
disrupted by someone entitled as Black Devil, Kurosaki-kun. Starting from
bullying her to start having feelings to Yu Akabane. The problem is there is
someone who stands for Yu, offering her his shoulder, calming personality, and encouraging
words. Hmmm… the competition between the good and the bad is always hilarious
to follow.
Classroom scenes? Of course. I remember the first time Yu
went to her new class, she sat in front of Kurosaki-kun, and got kicked and
even bitten by Kurosaki-kun. Those scenes were exactly similar to the manga.
And, I kinda waited for the scenes. Lol.
4. Good Morning Call (2016)
Frankly speaking, I didn’t finish watching the drama since I
got tired of the female lead. And from then on, I prefer to avoid watching
drama with the same female lead as the main character in a drama. Sorry for the
fans. 😁😁😁
Born to be an ikemen is both a bless and a curse for
Hishashi Uehara. A bless when he can make use of his looks hahaha… But when
there is a bunch of girls asking his attention would be a curse. The story
somehow reminds of Itazura na Kiss—an ikemen, the brain in his school, and
later had to stay together with a girl he disliked but gradually got his
attention. Aarrghh… this kind of story hopefully won’t be used for the upcoming
drama. Since it’s predictable and kinda boring.
5. No Dropping Out: Back to School at 35 (2013)
After watching more of school drama (for the time being, I’m
currently watching Gokusen, season 1), I think I know the core of the school
drama: troubled class/ students, powerless teachers and head master, a sudden
outsider coming to deal with the troubled ones, and make everything right, and
students’ lack of friendship. This drama is more or less has the same idea. The
difference is the heroine is a 35-year-old-female student.
At first, it was quite interesting but then I got annoyed of
the students and the teachers. Aarrghh.. I should have known that that it
should be the main issue. However, I just couldn’t stand of more episodes.
Gomen…
6. Mr. Hiiragi Homeroom (2019)
A school drama with troubled students seems to be really
common in Japanese drama. From my previous post, like Water Polo Yankees,
Tumbling, Great Teacher Onizuka, and my currently watching, a legendary one,
Gokusen, all of them mostly talk about troubled students. And there must
someone, either a teacher or a student would have to set up things. Bullying is
another topic in school drama, but this amazing drama includes investigation
and self-contemplation that touched deep in my heart, and maybe, other viewers,
too.
Hiiragi sensei is the homeroom teacher for 3rd
Grade Class A. The students seemed OK until one of the students committed
suicide. The teacher assumed that the student might have been the target of
class bullying. 10 days before final exam, Hiiragi sensei put the troubled
students under his hostage.
As I wrote here in my blog, this drama is both thrilling and
touching. I felt emotional watching the sacrifice of the teacher and the
students one by one realizing what they did wrong. Classroom scenes? Almost all
scenes were taken in class and school. Highly recommended!!! (see my impression here)
7. Chugakusei Nikki (2018)
I can say that this is a very different kind of school
drama. The topic kinda repeated what some school dramas have, a love story
between teacher and student. Incidentally, this teacher-student-love-story has
the same topic as My Teacher (Ikuta Toma and Suzu Hirose, October 2017), and
Sensei Kunshu, Ryoma Takeuchi and Minami Hamabe, August 2018). But this drama
has a sad self-sacrifice-tone that’s frustrating, not to mention the soundtrack
that seemed to break every body’s heart into pieces. I know there must be some
more drama about teacher-student love story, but so far, I only watched those
I’ve mentioned.
Hijiri Suenaga is a junior high school teacher. She is the
homeroom teacher of a class where Akira Kuroiwa studies and falls in love with
her. Meanwhile, Hijiri has a steady boyfriend who lives far away from her. They
have dated since they were in college. But, Hijiri couldn’t resist her own
feeling to her student. Neither could I. 😌😌😌 Kenshi Okada is a gorgeous
newbie who got all the attention from the viewers. Watching this drama would
make you think if long distance relationship is worth striving or not.
Classroom scenes? Many. I felt relieved that finally I got a
decent school drama with teacher and student active interaction without putting
troubled students, like in any other school drama.

Are You Ready? Hey, Girl! (2019)
This short drama together with a movie tells about a popular
gorgeous guy who looks for a true love. Sounds typical? Yup! Look at Doumyouji Tsukasa
and Haruto Kaguragi, popular and handsome, but they are awkward by the time
they want to get close to girls. Towa Furuya could get any girl in his school,
but only one girl he desires, alas, she doesn’t want him. She wants her
teacher. Eh? Another story of teacher-student love story? Oh no. The plot
revolves around Towa Furuya and his effort to the girl he dreams about.
Classroom scenes? Yup, especially when he realizes that the
girl he adores puts her eyes on the teacher in class. How poor you are, Furuya 😁😁😁 (see my review)
9.
Gokusen (2002)
Can you believe that I’m currently watching this legendary
drama in 2019 while the drama was released in 2002. As I told you earlier in my
previous post that I don’t really like drama that has too many seasons. It’s
different case if I follow the drama from the beginning. But then, here I am,
in my spare time, my eyes got glued on YouTube watching Gokusen one episode to
another. Since I have watched too many school drama, so mostly I could predict
how the story would end. Something unpredictable is the case. Well, everyone
has his story and the background and it’s interesting to know how they live
their lives.
I’m bit disappointed since the classroom scenes mostly about
the math teacher Kumiko Yamaguchi or Yankumi, who got bullied by the students. Somehow,
they love their teacher so much. I just want to see how she taught math to the
students instead of what the students should do in their life, and bla bla bla.
Lol.
Well, I think this is all I can write about Japanese school
drama that some dramas don’t have school subject teaching and learning session,
instead they mostly discuss about how to prepare students’ future, how to
become a better person, and other things. Still, I learn a lot of things from
the drama. I yearn for more school drama later.
Ja, mattane…
