(Currently Watching) Japanese Drama 2019
As someone who doesn’t have a lot of things to do, what I’d do is spend my time binge watching dorama :D And recently, I found some interesting and engaging dorama that I decide to wait every episode every week. I hope the subbers would be kind enough to sub the drama until the very end.
Here is the list of my currently watching dramas:
1.
Grand Maison Tokyo
Watching this drama, you’ve got to
feel full or you’ll get hungry, mouthwatering every time you see the characters
here cook. Takuya Kimura as the main lead plays as Natsuki Obana, a genius in
cooking. At first, he owned a restaurant in France and got 2 Michelin star.
Getting 2 Michelin star made him conceit until a terrible incident happened
that he lost his restaurant, his career and his solid team. He then met a
female chef that he thought could be his partner to achieve his dream, to get 3
Michelin star. Going back to Japan, they decide to open their dream restaurant.
But, to achieve their dream is not that easy. Natsuki Obana should deal with
budget, his creativity, and most important is his pride. His old team prefer
turning away from him.
Having Takuya Kimura as the main
lead is a guarantee that your drama would be a success. He could transform into
anyone, any role given to him. I watched him as a detective, a doctor, a body
guard, and now as a chef. More of that, this drama has many great casts like Yuta
Tamamori (he played as a chef in Nobunaga no Chef), Suzuki Kyoka, Sawamura Ikki, Oikawa Mitsuhiro, etc. all the
characters I mentioned here play as amazing chefs that not only the menu looks
stunning but also the way they present their techniques of cooking will make
you in awe.
The tag of the drama is chef and
food. Watching only two first episodes, I don’t see any glimpse of romance.
Well, there must be slight of romance here and there. But, just don’t expect
too much on romance.
2.
Ore no Hanashi wa Nagai (If Talking Paid, My
Story is Long)
Somehow, the life of Kishibe Mitsuru is quite relatable to
my life. I’ve been living whole my life in my parents’ house together with my
married sisters. The difference is I used to have a steady job until I gave it
up last year. Kishibe Mitsuru was mentioned as a neet in s synopsis I read
somewhere. But, I think he is not a real neet from 2 episodes I’ve been
watching. He used to have a coffee shop that went bankrupt that now he lived
together with his mother. He seemed to have a peaceful life until his married
sister came in along with her husband and a daughter. They temporarily moved in
the house since their house is under construction. His sister got annoyed
looking at him doing nothing around the house. She promised to do something to
her only brother.
I was excited to see Ikuta Toma play as the main lead here.
As far as I can remember, it’s quite rare for me to see him in drama. I watched
him in Hana Kimi and fell in love with him. I also watched him in lots of his
movies. But I guess, Hana Kimi is the only drama I watched ππ
The drama has other popular characters like Kaya Kiyohara as Harumi Akiba (Mitsuru's niece), Ken Yasuda as Koji Akiba (Mitsuru's brother in law), Yosuke Sugino as Kaisei Komano (as a cafe shop keeper?), etc. I don't find any slight of romance in this drama. But, on the second episode, it might have few scenes about romance between Harumi Akiba and her classmate, or might be Mitsuru with the dog owner, the dog he walks almost every day. The drama has a typical family genre, slice of life that can touch and warm your heart. Waiting for the upcoming episodes.
3. Ex- Enthusiasts (MotoKare Mania)
Different from the first drama I mentioned earlier, this drama is indeed a romance drama. This drama might hit every body's heart since the theme is everybody's problem: moving on from your ex is a problematic thing to do. ππ
Yurika Nanba (Yuko Araki) broke up with her boyfriend five years ago. But till then, she cannot put aside his shadows. She might be a regular kind of girl who is over 25 years old, but doesn't have a steady job, has a tragic love story, and other kinds of problems. One day, she meets her ex in her new workplace. She was panicky as well as excited. Should she feel excited or problematic now that she meets her ex. Does she have a chance to go back with him, or she should find someone else?
This drama is actually quite common having the old crush that haunts you. I found some dramas having similar theme, but this one is a bit different. Almost ALL CHARACTERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! Now I'm asking you, how long would you keep your feeling towards your ex? Would you still find some muse from your ex every time you're down? Yurika has that kind of thing. And since this drama has comedy genre, you can find Yurika in many forms debating among others: Young Yurika, strick Yurika, serious Yurika, detective Yurika, nerd Yurika, flirty Yurika, etc. I'm amazed with how Yuko Araki plays the multiple roles. Kengo Kora plays as Yurika's ex also has to play multiple roles when it comes to his confusion about his feeling to Yurika. I wish I could talk to myself from different points of view.π€π
Well, minna-san. I think those are my first 3 dramas I can recommend to you. I still have some more. I just wish that I have enough internet data to watch all the on going drama. πππ
