(QR) Sashidashinin wa, Daredesuka?
English title: Who Is the Sender?
The Plot
Kuwazuru Mitsuki is a second year student at Arakawa Nishi High School. One day, her homeroom teacher, Tachibana, suddenly announces the start of the "Letter Game", where every student has to write a letter with his/her true feelings to each of the classmates. However, the "letter" will not include the sender's name. At first, there were a lot of bad jokes and silly "letters", but they slowly accelerate to revealing secrets and confessions, which make everyone question, "Who is the sender?" and "Who will be named next?" This game allows the students to become more aware of each other's hidden worries and thoughts, which slowly deepens the bond among the classmates. Meanwhile, Mitsuki tries to search for the sender of the letter sent to her and she discovers a secret hidden in this "letter game".
I never thought that I would be absorbed with this mini-40-episode drama. One episode only has 12 minutes duration. So, when I finished one episode, it would be no harm to continue more episodes, and more and more. And I realized that my time is running out only for watching this drama. lol.
The concept of the drama is quite similar to the mini drama I watched previously, Kono Hatsukoi wa Fiction Desu. Even the characters have some similarities. Say, the main lead, Kuwazuru Mitsuki, has typical characters like Kurashina Izumi; shy, smart, able to read atmosphere, fair, loyal, etc. The other characters are alike: Tanida Sawa - Saeki Ayaka (extrovert, fashionable, cheerful), Sobue hiroki - Taiyou Ichinose. Well, I said they are alike, but not totally the same. How can I say it? Hmmm....
But this drama has more issues related to the present teenagers: bullying, domestic violence, betrayal, unrequited love, pregnancy, mental health, suicide, sex orientation, family matters, etc. But, seeing as the story goes, somehow it reminds me of Mr. Hiiragi's Homeroom drama, minus the violence done by the teacher hahaha... And the students were not as brutal as the ones in Mr. Hiiragi's class. The class was actually quite normal until the letter game started. The point of sending letters to each other in class is to know themselves, recognize their own problems, know each others well, form bond among the students, and trust each other.
Firstly, there must some misunderstandings between them, yet apparently they could save the misunderstandings. I think it's good for initiating the teens to realize their own problems and try to find the way out together. They are still 17 years old, and as the teacher said, more complicated problems would come to them in the future. However, some problems in this drama seem to be solved too easily. Well, I still enjoy it though.
Well you know, I watched a couple of boys love dramas, but in this drama, I don't support the character. LOL. Sorry, Ken :D And again, different sex orientation is discussed in Jdrama as something should be hidden, not to be announced in public. And that's what it is in real life (at least it's where I live).
All in all, the drama depicts teenagers' life with the characters representing ourselves. The way they solved the problems might be different (since it's a drama :D ). But at least, this drama tells us to go with the flow if something doesn't go our way.
Mini spoilers:
I wonder Ikura's family after the bankruptcy. The story only centered on how Ikura handled the situation after his secret was revealed.
And don't forget about Hikari after she got back from the village. It's clear that she didn't live with her abusive father anymore. Would there be any possibility that her father would come and get her?
I can go on and on with some spoilers here, but don't worry I won't spoil all 😁
Major spoiler (don't read if you object with this)
The teacher, who initiated the game, had the same ending as Hiiragi sensei.
My rating:
Story: 9/10
Casts: 9/10
Music: 8/10
Re-watch value: 8/10
