(QR) Don't You Think Girls who Talk in Hakata Are Cute?
Japanese title: Hakataben no Onnanoko wa Kawaii to Omoimasen ka?
The Plot
The series follow the story of a high school boy who lives in Tokyo, and his childhood friend, Hakatano Donko-chan, who is from Hakata and really talks in Hakata dialect! People around her sometimes get confused because of it, but her dialect makes them smile!
I watched and re-watched this drama for Kenshi Okada who now changed his name into Mizukami Koshi (after his dispute with his agency).
As a Japanese language leraner, I'm really enthusiastic to knwo kinds of accent or dialect by Japanese people. From Netfilx drama, Makanai san Chi no Maiko san, I know a little about Kyoto accent with Okini instead of arigato to show gratitude. And this mini drama, I learned a little about Hakata dialect with Katarashite kudasai instead of yoroshiku onegaishimasu. Not to mention some other expressions like kurasuzo kisan for swearing and the last expression I couldn't really get the expression for suki, kokuhaku (confession) expression.
For the story, I think it is to promote Hakata, one district located in Fukuoka. all the maid leads here are from Fukuoka, including Imada Mio who performed as herself promoting Fukuoka. The food, the festivals, and even the sport athlete mentioned in this drama.
One tag from this drama is romance. Well, I think it's too instant for the male lead to have feelings for the female lead (even though they were childhood friends). If it's not 50 minute duration, I think the romance could be more developed. But, so far, it's a cute drama.
