8 Japanese movies you can watch during #lockdown #COVID-19 pandemi

In this kind of situation, I'm sure the only thing to stay sane is to make yourself comfortable and happy. I'm really sorry for this condition. Who expects to have such situation, and worse, to have it this long? However, no matter what, we should have high expectations that this pandemi would soon be gone and everything goes back normal.

Well, in this occasion I'd like to share some Japanese movies that you can watch together with your family. But I'd like to remind you to check the rating,  whether or not the movies are good for children under 10 years old.

Here they are:

1. Brave Father Online


Genre:  family, game
Casts:  Kentaro Sakaguchi,  Yoshida Kotaro, Maika Yamamoto
The story revolves around father and son, Akira and Akio who have been awkward to each other. They used to be close, though, when Akio was child. They did play the game, Final Fantasy, years ago. But the father's busy days pulled them apart. After all the years, Akio is now a salaryman, getting used to by himself. His father who has been away for business suddenly decides to resign.

2. Bento Harassment

Genre: family, cooking
Casts: Ryoko Shinohara, Kyoko Yoshine
Futaba, a first year high school student, just got into her school. On the first day of her high school, her bento brought her a bento, lunch box, for her. She never thought that the bento was not an ordinary bento. It has some cartoon character (Red Riding Hood). Then it has some messages (that annoyed her) or supporting messages (that also annoyed her). Well, yeah, Futaba was in her rebellious phase that everything dealing with her mother always annoyed her.

3. Cafe Funiculi Funicula

Genre: fantasy, family, romance, time travel
Casts: Kasumi Arimura, Kentaro Ito, Yo Yoshida, Kento Hayashi, Haru, etc
Kazu Tokita works in a café called Café Funiculi Funicula which her relative, Nagare Tokita, runs. There is  a rumor that there is a certain seat that a customer sits there, with his/ her intention, he/ she would time travel. But there are some conditions for everyone who wants to time travel to agree with.

4. Fortuna's Eye

Genre: fantasy, romance
Casts: Kasumi Arimura,  Ryonosuke Kamiki

Shinichiro Kiyama, a survivor from an airplane crash, suddenly realizes that he has an ability to see someone's end of life. In some occasions, he could save the people, but he gets a price to pay for saving the people. One day he could see his girlfriend's end of life.

5. A Forest of Wood and Steel

Genre: musical, drama, coming of age
Casts: Kento Yamazaki, Mone and Moka Kamishiraishi

Kento as Naoki Tomura is a high school student who is unceritain of what he would be in the future. Until one day when he meets a piano tuner, Soichiro Itadori. Naoki who was raised in the forest could smell the breeze and the calmness of a forest. The tune of a piano being tuned really inspired him. Without his second thought, he decided of what he would be in the future, a piano tuner.

6. The Traveling Cat Chronicles 


Genre: adventure, sicklit, drama
Casts: Fukushi Sota, Yuko Takeuchi,  Alice Hiroshe

Satoru (Sota Fukushi) is a young man with a warm heart. He has a cat named Nana, but, due to circumstances, he can't raise cat Nana anymore. He travels with Nana to find a person who will take care of Nana. During his travels, he meets various people like his childhood friend and his first love. His unknown past and secret are revealed. 7. The House Where The Mermaid Sleeps


Genre: sicklit, family, drama
Casts: Ryoko Shinohara, Hidetoshi Nakajima, Kentaro Sakaguchi

Kaoruko Harima (Ryoko Shinohara) has two children. She lives separately from her husband Kazuaki (Hidetoshi Nishijima). They have agreed to divorce after their daughter's exam for elementary school finishes. One day, they learn that their daughter drowned in a swimming pool. The doctor informs them that their daughter is brain dead and does not have a chance to recover. The couple has two choices. One choice is to donate Mizuho's organs to others in need and their other choice is to wait until Mizuho's heart stops beating. ( from Asianwiki)

8. The Miracles of Namiya General Store 

Genre: fantasy, drama
Casts: Ryosuke Yamada, Nijiiro Murakami,  Kanichiro,  Kento Hayashi, Mugi Kadowaki

In 2012, Atsuya (Ryosuke Yamada) and his 2 childhood friends do something bad and run into an old general store. They decide to stay there until the morning. Late into the night, Atsuya sees a letter in the mailbox. The letter is addressed to the Namiya General Store and the letter was written by someone to consult about worries. Incredibly, the letter was written 32 years ago. The mailbox is somehow connected to the year 1980. Atsuya and his friends decide to write a reply and place their letter in the mailbox.
