There are many reasons why I watch a certain drama/ movie.
This one must be clear if you follow my posts in my blog. The male lead here
is, of course, my main reason to watch the drama. Lol. Taishi Nakagawa is a
kind of guarantee ticket for me to watch the drama. Another reason is the
genre. Even though it is not the main theme of the drama, but classical music
is a part of the title of the drama. Yup, I always love to see more of drama
with classical music in it.
The story revolves around three main characters here. They
are Yaeko Kogure, Rihito Kase and Yukie Kitagawa. They are from totally
different background who suddenly gather for the love of Air, a classical piece
composed by Sebastian Bach. Not only that, their sudden love of Air has
different causes. One this they share is they were depressed when listening to
this song and felt that the music touched their hearts.
Yaeko Kogure is 27 years old and is about to get married.
Yet, her dream was shattered after finding out her boyfriend’s affair. She was
in a mall when she listened to Air played by a violinist—later became her tutor
in playing violin. Without knowing what it was for, she grabs a brochure
offering a violin class and brings it home.
Rihito Kase, a 19-year-old college student was also in the
mall when he listened to Air. He got stunned for a moment knowing who the
violinist was. Without thinking twice, he grabs a brochure offering a violin
class.
Yukie Kitagawa, a middle-aged-housewife, was also in the
mall with her family when she listened to Air played on stage. Unconsciously,
she was drawn near the stage to listen to Air better and saw the violinist. She
sees the brochure of violin class, she grabs it.
Yaeko, Rihito and Yukie have the same violin class with Mao
sensei as their teacher. At the beginning, they are just violin classmates.
Then later, they start to get along to one another. Yaeko tells about herself
that she is depressed after knowing her ex boyfriend’s affair. Not only that,
since she’s ready to get married, she decides to resign from her work only to
know that she was cheated. She’s too embarrassed to o back to her office. And,
she’s officially between jobs.
Yukie is a full time housewife with a daughter. She lives
together with her husband and his mother. For all this time, she tries her best
to become the best mother, wife and daughter-in-law. However, what she gets is
just her husband having affair, her mother-in-law never ending complaints and a
daughter who tries to be independent.
Rihito is a 19-year old-college student who falls in love
with her brother’s girlfriend. But, to his shock, his brother has an affair and
the girl is expecting a child. Rihito feels depressed as well as disappointed
with his brother.
As you can see, three of them have their own problems and
music is their escapism. Mao-san, as their sensei, seems to have her own
problems. Similar to them, music is the only muse for her. As time goes by,
they draw their relationship closer, they support each other, they find
solution to one another. How nice. 😍😍😍.
That’s how friendship supposed to be.
From the beginning, I already fall in love with this drama
since I really enjoy Air by Bach. I love how this music is played in no matter
the music instrument is used. But, violin playing Air is still the best. I love
the idea ofles how people who at first didn’t know each other and later they
become best friends. they’ve been through some many moments together: happy,
sad, proud, depressed, rejected, excited, etc, together. Well, I can say that
I’ve been jealous of them hahahaha…. Romance is kind of bonus here. Well,
actually in person, I don’t really like the female lead here. Haru, I think, doesn’t
have many different facial expressions. To make it worse, she often has typical
roles in many doramas. Take an example: Survival Wedding. I really wanted to watch
the drama since I’d love to see more of Ryo Yoshizawa. But she ruined my mood. LOL.
I wonder why many dramas in Japan, when it comes to bring topics about someone
nearly 30 years old, the roles would be given to Haru and Kyoko Fukada. Whatever
the genre, when it comes to someone who longs for marriage and fails to get
someone proper, the cast would be for both of them. Well, there might be some
more of other actresses who get similar roles, but all I know is just two of
them.
And Haru and Taishi, together? Oh, nooooo… But the story goes
that way. Even I oppose the female cast, the plot would be less fun without the
romance from both of them. And as always, I always love to see Taishi’s
expressions: when he’s down, nervous, awkward, happy, thrilled, enthusiastic,
etc, he never fails to show off his expressions. I know that he’s good at
playing drum, but I wonder whether he really plays the violin himself. But, as
someone as talented as him, I bet he would be enthusiastic to learn new things.
The story about Yukie san might be typical daily life of a
housewife, especially a housewife who lives together with her mother-in-law. Some
housewives out there might fell represented by Yukie’s character here. Wish that
they would have a compromise with their household problems the way Yukie-san does.
The message delivered by Yukie-san here is just be yourself. Stop pretending
that you like something that your heart opposes, find something you want to do
to make yourself healthy, find people who know you better.
Well, last but not least, it’s quite rare to find a drama
that ends happy like this one. Happy doesn’t always mean that you always get
what you want, but at elast you can enjoy what you get right now and try to
cherish the moment as much as you can. I sound preachy, don’t I? hahaha… Gomen.
I just want to recommend this drama for everyone who loves romance with a
little bit of classical music with some stories of unrequited love.
